i worry i'd be stuck with him if i'm having to put out fires in other parts of my team (though not starting with Lumumba this year will help alleviate this)..
There'll be someone else this year!

A.Hall- Watching closely, very closely... my F3 is up for grabs
S.Gray- Currently my F3, back in consideration for the first time since December. Dominant in the SANFL, ball magnet, good to see he's continuing form. Would definitely like to see him play with Wines+Gray+Boak+Ebert+Hartlett
T.Greene- Not really interested, plenty of GWS mids who can take up slack of Treloar going out, will probably average a bit better, and does have potential, but I'm not really interested
Tom Bell- Every Carlton player that leaves seems to dominate, maybe worth a look.
Bennell- As you said, upgrade target I think, however has dominated on return from an injury before. I can't see him playing over 17-18 games though
Bird- My only concern is he's in Essendon and can play anywhere on the ground so with their weak line up I think they might throw him around a fair bit, don't doubt his ability though and I think could be a keeper..... Simpkin and Wells are currently the reason I don't have him, I think Wells and Simpkin could potentially be an F6 maybe even F5 keeper, I don't see Bird reaching much higher than F6 or F5 keeper, so I'm happy to save $$$

Even if he fails it wont be a loss as he'll be in every team anyway. But yes he is ready to go, and will probably be a mistake not to grab him.

Re- Libba. I keep going back to pre-2014 where he sucked against the heavy tag, I'm sure that was talked about early preseason last year with Griffen leaving BUT his price is just too delicious. Playing him at M5 (or M6) is just too darn enticing. At least if he goes down again, with such a high ownership, you won't lose...

Still struggling with this 3rd forward, I don't really like any of the premiums priced players outside of Martin & Barlow, Zorko is my back up, outside of that ??? Having a look at a few guys who have had issues in the past and had a solid season last season and will look to improve this time around,
found Allen Christensen, personal issues and back surgery at the start of last season didn't get much of a pre-season but still knocked out a 88 average, full pre-season this time around is a big tick, style of play suits SC, role? a concern, high half forward.. will he get enough?

I'm agreeing with you, but have Dollshouse n Greene @ F3/4 at the moment. I'm feeling the same about DEF. Follow your gut I reckon, then wait for round one selections. Playing 2 Premo forwards will mean you go very deep on other lines, deeper than most I'd say.

If i was confident in the defence players i think i would be going cheaper up forward, but Birchall & Bartel are the only locks at the moment back there.

For me Bird is just a better footballer than Simpkin, I don't think Simpkin is any chance of being a keeper

Bombers list looks woefully short of IMs thus I fail to envisage Bird playing anywhere else.

FWIW on Bird - true that he averaged 88SC in 2014 when allowed to play more offensively at Sydney.. true that in theory Crowley should be handling the tagging duties (if Worsfold goes that route).. but he isn't cheap, even with his 10% pricing discount (priced at ~64, averaged ~72) (thanks, Captain Obvious!). Need to see him playing some kind of accumulator role throughout he NAB otherwise i fear he could be a value trap (vs rookies) if he doesn't get to an 85-90 average - and i worry i'd be stuck with him if i'm having to put out fires in other parts of my team (though not starting with Lumumba this year will help alleviate this)..

If you take away his round 16 games vs Hawks where he was subbed early (20 pts) this puts his ave at 80 which equates to a 20% discount.

Assuming he plays the IM roll (im 99% sure) a 348K player classified as a FWD with a 20% discount + much less oppo for centre square duties than at Sydney = Lockity Lock Lock even in a team who will struggle to win games.

Menzel 11k 8h, DE78%, 5t 1g looked good and fit, could this be his year?
Such an awkward price though. In a normal year he would be definitely one to look at. But at the price and with the other sub-250k fwds that are around, it'll be hard to fit him in.

I'm hearing you, but damn he looks the goods. I hope that he can put a few together this year.

Guys just remember with players like hall and gray that came home with a wet sail, they both played in teams that didnt have a chance of making finals. My point is the coaches may have tried different setups and played certain players in different positions because there was nothing to lose. Pick with caution.

I'm not on the De Goey train just yet but did stick his hand up last night, if he was a better kick i'd be very, very interested because he certainly finds it fine.

I had a few on my watchlist that I was considering, and boy did they jump up that list last night. McCarthy, DeGoey, Menzel and Cockatoo all impressive and look value. There was no defence last night, so taking the forward scores with a grain of salt. But they did themselves no harm. Cockatoo looks like inefficiency will be a major issue, so don't think I could pick him in SC, but the others looks good.

Role for DeGoey is questionable, but he's so skilled you'd think they'd be keen to blood him in the midfield as an outside user. The other Pies mids are so suspect by foot (Greenwood, Adams, Treloar, Sidey), you'd think they'd want to get it in this blokes hands.

McCarthy is very interesting. The wraps on him were big at the start of 2014 and I started with him. He played 2 games and then got injured and sat on my bench all season. If he gets through the NAB and is picked round 1 he'll be in my side.
