Role for DeGoey is questionable, but he's so skilled you'd think they'd be keen to blood him in the midfield as an outside user. The other Pies mids are so suspect by foot (Greenwood, Adams, Treloar, Sidey), you'd think they'd want to get it in this blokes hands.

If he's not in a position for clearances he's not worth the gamble, wouldn't call him skillful bit of a hack by foot.

Can anyone think of any lead up 3rd tall type forwards that have scored in the top 10 in SC in the past?

Ryan O'Keefe was a big scorer in that role before he moved into the midfield full-time. I'd assume Gunston may have gone close. Are you weighing up the merits of Tom Lynch by any chance?

Yeah you read me like book, I liked him and expected him to improve again this season but it's probably not be enough to be an option.

I think he's worth watching. Not a conventional pick, but not a bad one and with the possibility of being very good. Gunston played 22 games @ 96.6 last year, which would've been a good starting fwd pick. I think that's Lynch's upper limit.

Lynch 95 today, just off Gunston's average last year. Promising.

Agreed, like Yeo.
Off topic for this thread but I'm interested why you think Yeo is a sheep pick. Priced at 82 avg. Was forced to play a non SC friendly role at times last year but WC has defenders back - this should be good for a few PPG improvement. Has played about about 60 games and is coming into his 5th year so should still have some natural improvement left in him - again good for a few PPG upside. These two factors should put him in keeper territory for the back line. One of the only back line players who I'm confident has some up side. What makes you think he's no good?

A.Hall- Watching closely, very closely... my F3 is up for grabs
S.Gray- Currently my F3, back in consideration for the first time since December. Dominant in the SANFL, ball magnet, good to see he's continuing form. Would definitely like to see him play with Wines+Gray+Boak+Ebert+Hartlett
T.Greene- Not really interested, plenty of GWS mids who can take up slack of Treloar going out, will probably average a bit better, and does have potential, but I'm not really interested
Tom Bell- Every Carlton player that leaves seems to dominate, maybe worth a look.
Bennell- As you said, upgrade target I think, however has dominated on return from an injury before. I can't see him playing over 17-18 games though
Bird- My only concern is he's in Essendon and can play anywhere on the ground so with their weak line up I think they might throw him around a fair bit, don't doubt his ability though and I think could be a keeper..... Simpkin and Wells are currently the reason I don't have him, I think Wells and Simpkin could potentially be an F6 maybe even F5 keeper, I don't see Bird reaching much higher than F6 or F5 keeper, so I'm happy to save $$$
What are people's thoughts on Allan Christensen as a potential F3? Missed the preseason last year and was under done. Improved as the season went on. Reported as having a good preseason this year ... is he likely to reach forward keeper level?

I'll cross post this into the defender thread so we don't confuse the forward talk here

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he did average around 100, but gut says 80-85, going to play high half forward so they'll be games where he just doesn't see enough ball

Interesting to look at Christensen. He's perceived as an "outside" player, but he's actually a gun inside-midfielder and clearance player.

He played 4 games where he got more than 4 clearances last year, so presume he played as a midfielder in those games. In those games he scored 177, 100, 125 and 114 (average of 129). When he got 3 or more clearances (11 games) he averaged 102.

He's one to watch NAB and see his role. If he's getting big midfield minutes then get on him. If he's playing a half-forward role then forget-it. IMO he's not being used effectively and should be at every stoppage alongside Rockliff and Beams.

The problem is that all of Christensen, Zorko, Robinson and now Bell all can play that role. Would love to see Bundy do well but there's so many mid tier premos that will take points off each other. Stilll one to watch though.

Welcome Zerrett to the Railriders. Was initially hesitant but I'm now convinced.

Forward line at present:
Dusty, Zerrett, Denzel, Wells, Bennedy, Kerridge with Menadue and McCarthy on the pine.

McCarthy I'm still not convinced on JS so might end up being a R/F swingman (e.g. Cox/Grimley). Denzel is also on a knife-edge with DeGoey, Thomas, Bird, Andersen, Simpkin, Patton, Conca and Jerrett all under consideration.

I love a bit of "different" plan but going without Barlow is crazy imo, also with the rest of your setup how many of these "Zerrett, Denzel, Wells, Bennedy, Kerridge" need to be keepers?.

I'm far from convinced on Barlow. Think he'll struggle to average more than 95. Even if he gets up to 100 that may not be enough to put him in the top 6 forwards. I think I can use the money better elsewhere.

I plan to have 2 keepers in the forwards - Dusty and Zerrett. I've stacked the midfield so will look to focus most of my upgrades in forwards and defence.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Barlow then, I reckon he's this year's Swan,

Assuming you get the midfield right could be a shark move, good luck..!

Who do you think will be a top 6 fwd this year ahead of Barlow?
