Cowan scored 17 points in 21minutes in his first game back last season, I was hoping he didn't play any other games so we could get him dirt cheap, then he played another game and got 55, still, 150k is bloody good, especially being available down back

I'm a Hawk's member and I've always avoided Birchall as he is consistently stuck in the high 80s and low 90s and offers little value. He used to talk about wanting to move into the midfield but Clarko has never allowed the move. The Hawks are hard to judge as well because they trial weird stuff in the preseason that they don't do when the real stuff starts (eg Cyril down back in the 2015 preseason).
He'll be fringe, don't see him being a great supercoach prospect, I think he'll probably play around 15 games
If he plays 15 games for the year, then who plays the other 7 games then? Who is he fighting with for a spot at HB?
Lukas Webb, Roarke Smith, Bailey Williams, Lachie Hunter, Jed Adcock, Bob Murphy, Matt Suckling, Matt Boyd, JJohannisen all play off half back [or have played off half back] and the way we play our side if any of our VFL players have a good 3-4 games in a row they get a spot in the side, so even if Biggs is in "Our Best 22" he'll still be going in and out with form.
+Players like Adcock and Suckling may be in the best 22 up forward, then someone like Lin Jong can be in good form, come in to play half-forward and we just put Sucks to half back and move a player like Biggs back to the VFL
If I were you I wouldn't pay 390k for someone who might not even be in the team every week, he has potential to be an awesome player, but I don't think it's the time to pick him yet. I think once a couple of our older boys retire then Biggs will be a ripper pick but not this year. He has potential I'm not doubting that. I'm just doubting if this is the year to go there
390k is a little to much for someone who's played 16 games I think, to much risk and not enough reward
I don't understand any of the hype on Cowan. Was pick 50 or 60 something quite a few years ago, and I heard absolutely nothing about him until he played last year, where all he did was injure himself again. Has he been putting up good VFL numbers?
My theory behind picking him is Cats like what they see for him to be kept on the list so long, in his first game back he scored 17 from 21 minutes on field, in all his VFL games he gets 20-25 possessions even if it's right off the back of an injury. With a good preseason I think he can average 70ish which is bloody good as a backline rookie

I wouldn't be comfortable backing myself to take 5 players who'll end up in the top backs personally.
Happy to have a crack at a couple from that range, but it's unlikely all 5 of those will come off. I'd rather take a bit of value and look to upgrade into premiums once we have a better idea
Im staying away from Cowan, missed all of 2014 with hammy and achilles injuries and missed 12 games last year with a hammy
I 100% agree, but i'm having a hard time believing that Shaw, McVeigh, Simpson, Boyd will live up to there prices, at the moment my Defence is Shaw, Bartel, Smith, Rich/Z Williams 4x Rookies, if i go without Shaw replace him with Birchall or Kolo, it gives me great flexibility elsewhere.
