If I had a spare trade I'd go for Dennis. The course suits him as much as Cancellara and, as one site says, they are both similarly fatigued. As it is I've got Froome, Porte, T Martin, Dumoulin and Pinot - who got dropped before the mtn yesterday!

It was a farce. The top of Ventoux is bare and very exposed and with the high winds expected they moved the finish line 10km down the mountain. So the crowd crammed into a shorter climb and were all over the road. A break away got clear and went to the finish with little trouble. However, the...

As I have both Froome and Porte I slipped further down the ladder. Glad to see they negated most of the effects of the accident but I think Froome, Porte and Mollema still suffered from it. They were riding away from the others and probably would have made even more time on them.

Good idea, keffa. I should have thought of that. Could be why he was crowing about the win?

Some interesting cycling podcasts I've found: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02pcb42/episodes/downloads - daily reviews of each stage plus a couple of fascinating specials, the one on Cav and sprinting especially...

@Grater Thanks for those. I've brought in Quintana, Porte and Pinot - for Ventoux and the TT. I'm not sure about Pinot but it is Bastille Day and I think at least one Frenchman will figure in the finish. Plus, according to reports, Pinot is much improved in the TT and won the French TT.

@keffa Does Baden Cooke happen to manage Matthews?

Hansen is a legend. Apparently only 32, or is it 39, blokes have ever ridden in all 3 grand tours in the same year and Hansen is now on his 15th consecutive one. He says he will only keep riding them as long as he contributes. He doesn't just want to be part of the furniture. He is also quite...

Nice little video of Adam Hansen loading up on water bottles for his teammates. What a bloke.

I have just made a trade. No problems. Decide to brig in Coquard for Quintana - Coquard one of the favourites for both the next 2 stages and Quintana appears to be waiting for the 3rd week.

Trade amnesty still in place. I'm just bringing in sprinters. I find it way too hard to pick climbers.

No sure ideas. The next few stages to the end of this group of 8 transfers are: mntn, rest, break-away, sprint, mntn, ITT, sprint I've picked mostly GC guys for now: Froome, Quintana, Aru, D Martin, Mollema and Kreuziger. I might have picked Yates if he hadn't had that crash - although he still...

I think that they must have simply got their dates out by a day.

Having read all the above posts I went back to re-read the rules and decided that I'd try my luck with a trade just in case the 3.00am Sunday was for real. I have now made 3 trades without them getting counted. Brought in Aru, Mollema and Kreuziger. Only kept Cav of the sprinters.

Killer stage tonight. As a cyclist who hates hills, I'm in awe of these guys.

    Tour de France

Yep. We get another 8 to use or lose over the next 7 stages. But I'm not going crazy with them as after stages 8 + 9 we get the trade amnesty. So I'll probably save most of the 8 for the sprint stage 11 and the ITT stage 13.

It's a toss up. Froome is probably the favourite because: a. He's the overall favourite b. Froome/Sky usually target the first real mountain stage c. Contador is still recovering from his crashes and everybody thinks that Quintana is just shadowing Froome for now. Valverde is still claiming that...

Good going to all. Although our league is 4th the top 2 leagues can be discounted as they have no bonus stages left. Our main competition looks to be the leagues sitting at 3rd and 5th: Colt Tower and 1987. I'm slowly advancing - up to 83rd. I am unsure about my last trade in this block of 8...

@keffa I had a look at your team and saw you still had 5 trades to use or lose over the next 2 stages. Do you mind if I make a few suggestions? My apologies in advance if I am being offensive. If I were you I would swap out Valverde and Matthews for Kittel and Cavendish. That would give you a...
