I'm concerned about the bombers with JS just won't score enough, Mids might look weak but some of Kerridge, Menadue, Kennedy, & Wells can play there with Mills, Davis, Hewitt, & hopefull with Mathieson & Gresham.

You might be right, would be mistake from what i've seen from the lad.
I have him in my team but need to see what the lineup for R1 one is. I am thinking it will be a lot like the team on the weekend with Papley and Newman missing out as they both need to be elevated.

Dont see Teddles, MAcca, McGlynn, Rohan or Reid playing R1

So for you boys and girls who've been playing SC seriously for 4-5 years is the amount of genuine (matter of opinion I suppose) mid price options this season rare>? I know there wasn't alot last year and pretty sure the year before,

& following on from that what constitutes mid-price madness? 5,4,3?

6 or 7 easily fit.
Def 3&4 mids 5&6 and fwd 3,4&5 with wells
That is madness trouble with going guns and rookies this year is that the top 6 in def and fwds is IMO still undecided. Most are priced too highly. Roll the dice and you may get someone who gets into the top 6.

Flip side is guns and rookies.

Rookie value seems to be strongest unfortunately in def and fwds. I've made teams with the gnr stratergy. Just don't like the look of a rookie in def 4 although it allows you take five premo mids destined to finish in the top 8
Ablett rocky Pendles Fyfe danger also allows goldy.

Also the case I look at is laird vs smith. Smith has the potential,to match lairds scorimg whilst saving you cash which allows you to turn a Collins into a rich per say. The risk is there but the reward is great. Using this example rich and smith although could be classified as fallen premos too will easily its out score Collins and laird.

Problem with midprice stratergy is that it easy once you move from gnr to keep applying this elsewhere. With ,Ost allowing for some correctional trading it's easy to rectify if you keep them limited in your team.

G'day everyone. Good to be back.

Just interested to know what people's early thoughts are on their team structure. Obviously depends a lot on rookies and how they perform in the NAB. No doubt this will constantly change.

Using the below thresholds
0-250k = rookies
250k-450k = midpricers
450k+ = premo's

At this stage I'm looking at the below structure:

DEF: 3-1-4
MID: 5-1-5
RUC: 1-1-1
FWD: 3-0-5

Thoughts:
DEF - I don't think the depth of rookies in defence is strong enough to take the gamble of starting 5 rookies.
MID - This could change as generally the mids is where the depth of rookies shine but for now thinking 5 premos + Libba will set a good foundation.
RUC - Really not sure about Lobbe (who is my current midpricer) or whether to just set and forget after last year's Bellchambers debacle.
FWD - Early thoughts are the depth of rookies up fwd is quite good this year hence prepared to start more rookies there than in previous years.
Totally agree re fwds.
With the likes of kerridge wells and be ken there all with good scorimg potential. IMO although dusty Montagna etc will finish top six they are currently overpriced.

I'm thinking of trying to head a similar way and go heavier on forward rookies than I already am. Not sure I can bring myself to go 2-0-6 though. I can't remember a year where we had so many viable forward rookies.
I've toyed with using a few as mid rookies due to the lack of them we have there.

At this stage I'm running With

DEF: 2-2-4
MID: 4-2-4
RUC: 2-0-1
FWD: 1-3-4

Thoughts: rookies incredibly thin this year especially in the midfield so far. Midpricers that I've selected are a good chance to avg 90-100. Allowing correctional trading if required to adjust. Main reason I'm running this structure is I feel that when I change it my team starts looking the same as everyone else's.

I've settled on 2-1-5 up forward. Wells at F3 is tempting but leaves me pretty exposed. My setup as it stands is :

3-2-3
4-2-4
2-0-1
2-1-5

It gives me as many as 15 keepers if all goes well. I don't expect that to happen, would be nice if it did though!

I'm running with a very similar set-up with the same thought on keepers.

Does that mean you'll be having a bunch of 200k Rookies?

I do at the moment.

But I'm really unsettled on my side so things will probably change. For me it all depends on what rookies end up being available.

What are your thoughts on Menzel @TomCat

What are your thoughts on Menzel @TomCat

I've kept quiet about Menzel because I'm utterly biased about him. He was the first player to enter my team and hasn't left since. He enjoys kicking goals and taking contested marks so has the potential to score really well.

His risk of injury is his biggest draw back and the fact that he will be rested at times. Scott has said that Menz will be managed through the season. Pretty much if Menz has a slight twinge he'll be given the week off or maybe two.

I'm bullish when it comes to this guy's talents so I think his potential out ways the risks. But I'm so biased that you probably shouldn't pay any attention to me.
