Bye Round is upon us!!!

Along with Yeo, Macrae, Mitchell, Sicily and Maclean having the bye round I have been stung with Fyfe (suspension), Coniglio & Laird Injuries.

All my by planning out the window with 3 additional premiums out of the side!

Round 12 = Total Carnage

Exactly the same issue! If those 3 miss I'll only have 17 playing. I'll also have an extra player up forward with no way to get them into the midfield.

May have to go early on Ahern, pending team sheets.

If those 3 miss I'll end up with 20 - but 8 forwards so effectively only 18 able to get on field. I will look at a couple of moves this week - Austin, Ahern, ?someone else - so I should be fine. I might also try and flip some DPP around and get Sicily onto the forward bench too to give me the maximum opportunity to get guys on field and also to loophole the emergencies.

Thoughts on buddy as an upgrade target this week? Already screwed in my round 14 league match up so bye isn't a huge problem.

My only bye rookie is Mirra. The obvious move is to Austin but Mirra has a break even of -10.

Anyone in the same position? You going to trade or hold?

with fyfe, laird and cogs down its time to hope all the rookies come good for just this week. I could have at least 20 playing, or depending on shets as bad as 16. my big question is christensen > buddy, or should i go with the more stable christenson > westhoff. I know bud has next week off but can cover that, and reckon the rd 14 bye round is already shot me only 12 onfield so far so will have to let that one slide. thought guys, is it time to bring ion the big man??

I couldn't even imagine trading a playing player.

At 13.39 minutes into the rnd.12 podcast - following a (rather convoluted) explanation by @Marcus SCC of his bye strategy, which included the phrase "upgrade cadence" - @Fbdonkey says:
"At this point I think we should acknowledge that we are massive nerds and that was one of the nerdiest things I've ever heard someone say".
Love it.

[Yes, people really do listen.]

Should I swap Finlayson or Coffield for Austin?

I feel like Finlayson has maxed out in terms of price but he has better scoring potential, but I don't want to get stuck with too many Saints rookies (I don't have Rice)
Coffield is playing well in the 2's and might be back soon and may not have hit his peak in terms of cash

Reports are Dusty will fly back on Sun/Mon to prepare for the Cats in round 13. Given they have the bye in round 14, he must be a chance to reconsider and stay on a bit longer and miss next week as well.

If he was reasonably-priced I'd consider trading him, but at $483k it's hard to justify. His last 7 games his average is 89 with a best score of 105, nowhere near premium numbers, let alone the uber-premium he's supposed to be. I'm going to sit down today and plot out my byes to decide what trades I make this week, I'm not ruling out trading Dusty if it suits my bye plans.

I've toyed with trading him out but... to who?!

Have done some fixture analysis. This is the average percentage of the upcoming opponents for the rest of the year, to give some guide as to the difficulty of a team's draw.

Hawthorn 89.1
Carlton 90.1
North Melbourne 96.4
Port Adelaide 99.3
Melbourne 100.6
Richmond 100.7
Brisbane 101.3
Fremantle 102.7
St Kilda 102.7
GWS 103.1
West Coast 103.3
Collingwood 104.0
Essendon 104.1
Gold Coast 106.3
Geelong 107.3
Adelaide 109.4
Sydney 110.5
Western Bulldogs 113.4

According to this, Hawks and Blues have the easiest draw by some margin. North and Port have favourable draws also, especially when you consider Port barely travel for the remainder of the year (3 trips to Victoria and 1 to Perth - only 1 away trip to play a top 8 team). Bulldogs have the hardest draw.

Something to consider when you are tossing up between 2 players and to bear in mind if you plan on picking up some Bulldogs, which I know a lot of people are planning to do next week.
