Starting team structure

G'day everyone. Good to be back.

Just interested to know what people's early thoughts are on their team structure. Obviously depends a lot on rookies and how they perform in the NAB. No doubt this will constantly change.

Using the below thresholds
0-250k = rookies
250k-450k = midpricers
450k+ = premo's

At this stage I'm looking at the below structure:

DEF: 3-1-4
MID: 5-1-5
RUC: 1-1-1
FWD: 3-0-5

Thoughts:
DEF - I don't think the depth of rookies in defence is strong enough to take the gamble of starting 5 rookies.
MID - This could change as generally the mids is where the depth of rookies shine but for now thinking 5 premos + Libba will set a good foundation.
RUC - Really not sure about Lobbe (who is my current midpricer) or whether to just set and forget after last year's Bellchambers debacle.
FWD - Early thoughts are the depth of rookies up fwd is quite good this year hence prepared to start more rookies there than in previous years.

This includes 7 players between $350k-$450k. My mids are all pure mids with DPPs in their other pos.

I have gone for a couple of players just out of the prem range to see if they have what it takes to make the extra money to come a prem

Typically I play pure Guns & Rookies. My first few seasons were very successful with this, but obviously the expansion teams helped too.

The Sub vest killed this strategy the last 2 years, but i'm confident it will work again in 2016.

If they become premiums, it's their score you want, not their price!

Little concerned about 11 not being enough premos despite being confident i can snag one or 2 n the mid prices..

You must have some value picks in your premiums to be 4-1-3 in defense to my 3-1-4. I've got Goldy, Fyfe and Danger so maybe you are skipping one or two of those.

Actually gone quite heavy in the backs with Boyd, Laird, Bartel, Birchall at D1-D4 and Sheridan D5. Have all of Goldy, Fyfe and Danger too. I have 0 $200k-250k rookies though.

I've got Kennedy, Gresham, Cockatoo, McCarthy and Menadue currently as premium priced rookies. Duggan, Ashby, Mills and Anderson have been in some drafts but currently out.

So where's your value picks then? Must be your midfield?

Have all of Rocky, Ablett, Pendles, Libba in the mids. Main value pick is Tippett in the rucks, no Buddy at this stage. 27k leftover. No Kennedy. I promise i'm not making this up! Haha
