Seriously going against my better judgement and looking at starting both Steven and Smith.

Argh, same here, although I’m not really looking at Steven too closely. He looked great tonight but that was in a Geelong team without Duncan, Selwood and (for most of the game) Menegola. That scares me.

True, but his price, form and the fact the Cats will put him through the middle makes it hard not to pick him.

Menegola and Steven are different players. Steven has the pace and flair to fill the Kelly role. Menegola doesn't. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see some of the kids go past Menegola this year and have him on the fringes of the 22.

Steven is a lock for mine.

Anyone actually seriously tempted by Darcy MacPherson at $443k? Marsh scores of 132 (79% TOG) and 127 (83% TOG). He played all 22 games last year at an average of 81 and averaged 87 after round 8.

In his two Marsh games, he kicked 0.3 and 1.2 - he’s hitting the scoreboard but has been super inaccurate, there’s more points up for grabs there. He did have 6 Free Kicks For in Marsh 1 which jacked up his score a little. Disposal efficiency of 64% across both games.

Currently in 4% of teams, including mine, am I nuts?
Might do the Happy Racoon and wait on this one. Too much risk

Had my fwds pretty settled until I saw Steven play.
Ton Lynch or Steven. Reckon one of them will end up a great pick

Which forward rookies are you all considering and how many are you planning on selecting?

At this point, I think Taylor, King & Georgiadis are the more certain starters. Rankin, Brander, Buderic are a little less certain. I’m trying to avoid King (for some reason). I think it will come down to picking all who are selected. I probably need to have two on field based on my current structure.

So, Jonathon Ceglar. When this whole "play Ben McEvoy down back" experiment started last year in round 21 here were Ceglar's scores:
  • Round 21 - 110pts (35 hitouts)
  • Round 22 - 83pts (34 hitouts)
  • Round 23 - 94pts (39 hitouts)
In the other 12 games he played, he only had above 20 hitouts once (24). In Rounds 21-23 Hawthorn smashed the Giants, Suns, and Eagles. I am pretty keen to start Jonathan Ceglar in my FWD line because those scores are good enough for me and that setup really worked well for Hawthorn.

I like the Ceglar pick too. Think 90-95 is very achievable

Any love for J Kennedy in the FWD's? He seems fit from what I can gather (full pre-season?). Given the shortened season, Eagles will play him and at $335k he's only got to bag a couple of big scores and he will rise in price. We won't have as many rounds for rookies to increase in value (the few rooks that are available).

Media comment today I saw suggested Steven unlikely to play Round 1 if it proceeds at all.
