What do we do with the little master?

Take out his 210 and he's only scored over 100 (barely) on two other occasions. Given how poorly it feels like he is scoring, and the fact he might be carrying a slight shoulder niggle, he is currently priced at $611,800, remarkably only $8k down from his starting price. Feels like a trade down to a Dustin Martin or a Zach Merrett could get you a fist full of cash and a higher averaging player for the rest of the season.

Then there's the byes. Gaz has the bye this week, and I can cover him easily should Treloar play (which he should). Having Gaz playing through rounds 11, 12 and 13 could be a nice little advantage.

Playing this game like the stock market though, I can't help but think its a good time to "sell" Gaz.

Any other Gary Ablett owners out there having similar thoughts?

Seems like a luxury trade, great if you can afford it. Some of us may look at picking him up through the byes, but on current form I can't see him being worthwhile. The week off might do him good, but he needs to consistently score 110+ for me to consider him.

BE of 198 and bye this week - so if you're going to do it then do it this week. Otherwise commit to him for the rest of the season.

I think that Gaz is having a better season than his SC numbers might suggest.
He is coming 4th in the AFL Coaches' Award with 32 votes.

In sum:
Gaz has been voted in the best 3 on ground in 5 of the 8 games played. If it was Brownlow voting he would have 9 votes - 1 x 3, 2 x 2, 2 x 1 - and be near the top of the leader board.
Yet his SC scores do not reflect this. In rnd.7, especially, he was voted in the top-2 but his SC score of 83 (DT120) was only 17th best.

This year is the first year that Gaz's SC scores are worse than his DT scores, after 11 straight years of being a CD favourite.
If I had Gaz I would keep him and hope that his SC scores pick up. He has the 7th highest average in DT - 117.4. In previous years that would be good for an SC average of about 128. Yet this year his SC average is only 22nd best at 107.8.
As I don't have Gaz it is more difficult. The real issue is: why is his SC/DT ratio so bad? What has changed so much - either in CD's scoring or Gaz's game - that he has lost his lustre?
