I actually think Sloane will be great this season, but I understand the concerns. In the past he hasn't copped much attention with danger around but how many teams actually tag these days anyway? The kangas were a big one with jacobs last year but he is an emergency for round 1 so sloane will...

Sorry for the long post in advance fellas. This is my last decision so figured I'd get other people's input! Which combo do people like out of: 1) Rich Nicnat S.Gray vs 2) Brodie Stef S.Gray vs 3) Brodie Stef Buddy vs 4) Yeo Stef Buddy vs 5) Yeo Nicnat Buddy - Rich should be good in a full...

I'd go Pendles Hall Crouch. I've got them at 120, 95 and 100 (315) and the other combo at 125, 95 and 75-80 (295-300). Need to remember Brayshaw isn't playing this week so an average game from Oliver could see him in the 2's next week.

Figured I'd ask as getting Papley opens up my options with some other combos. Should probably post those in the X v Y thread!

Throw Graham onto that list. Don't know if many people rate him but I reckon the kid's a jet!

What are people's thoughts on Hewett vs Papley vs Mccarthy? Need to pick 2 of them. Hewett has done 2 years in the NEAFL and remember reading he had good numbers last season. Mccarthy should be solid but can't see him being a big scorer. Papley is probably the sketchiest pick given he's likely...

I find it hard to believe he'll be used in that role this season and I doubt Maxy would know much about the actual gameplan etc. so I'd be inclined to take it with a grain of salt

Don't mind it at all! I've got the exact same midfield with Mills at M8. I've cheaped out massively in defence and have managed to squeeze in another forward premium. I quite like this structure given the lack of solid rookies in the middle and that midfield will pump out some monster scores...

The boys on DT Talk chatted to Nick Maxwell in their podcast today. He's part of the leadership program at GWS these days and interestingly he mentioned Greene might be used for lockdown roles at stages (even if it's just for a quarter or two) during the season. Not sure how much weight to...

I'd go Brad. He's a much bigger risk but he's 60k cheaper and I think he's the better footballer. Just crossing my fingers and hoping he stays on the park!

    Defenders 2016

Guess it depends how it pans out. I still think he can average 75-80 with those guys in the team, which is solid as cover in defence. Unless I desperately need the money I'd be inclined to ride out the price changes and leave him on my pine. Reliable cover always comes in handy and we all know...

The tag is definitely the biggest worry with Rich, but given the recent shift away from taggers he shouldn't have too many stinkers. I think he can manage a 90 average which makes him a solid pick in defence. At that price point I'm happy to take the punt.

@Prospector and @Steve have nailed it. Lonergan is a different case. Given the absence of Omeara, Swallow and possibly Prestia in the early to mid rounds of the season, Lonergan should see plenty of midfield time and score reasonably well in the first half of the season. When they all come back...

    Defenders 2016

You wouldn't be starting Rich as a stepping stone in defence. You'd only be doing it hoping he averages 90+ and turns into a keeper. You also wouldn't start him if you thought he wouldn't improve on last year, which is predominantly what SC Gold bases its predictions on. If you think he'll have...

@M4TT B8S Great team! As you said the rookies are really thin and some of those more expensive ones might be the go this year. Do you not think Mitch Brown will be a good pick? If the mid rookies aren't named you could always swing one of Menadue or Kennedy into the middle and trade Gore/Hewett...

For those considering Sam Gray, have a look at Port's draw. They have a dream start. First 8 weeks reads Saints Crows Bombers Giants Cats Tigers Lions Blues and it isn't too bad after the bye either. Makes the other Gray tempting as well!

    Forwards 2016

I've also been giving Gray some serious thought. As you mentioned he played midfield despite Port having a full strength team apart from Polec. He's shown he can match it with the big boys in the middle and it seems like he'll get plenty of midfield minutes this season. Plus he has a great bye...

If you don't mind me asking how on earth did you manage to both strengthen your defence AND upgrade a forward to a premium with just 100k? Teach me your ways!

My thoughts exactly. It's really hard to gauge how he's going to score with their midfielders back. I expect him to still be given plenty of midfield time in the early parts but when jaeger and swallow return will he be shuffled out? Would hate to have to trade him half way through the year...
