    2017 Rookies

Hmmm. I may end up with 3x correction trades with a lot of good rooks starting round 2 instead of round 1.

Smith is the only one I'd consider trading this week because from what I heard he is likely to be out for ages ... but even then I'd only do it early if I was fairly sure I was going to need two other corrective trades next week. Looks like you've got a fair few of the promising rookies already...

@Benj I've been keeping my eye on Newman for a couple of years and I'll probably pick him up when he's on the bubble if Hibberd still isn't getting games. I don't know anything about Hayward, what's the go with him?

I actually left Treloar out of my starting team because he is such a butcher. He's getting so much of the damn thing I think it is still going to hurt me.

    Round 2 Discussion

Some years I've when there haven't been many reliable superprimium players around I've used 120 as a benchmark. This year I really want 130 ... but I probably would lock in 125. Danger looks good enough and North bad enough that yeah I think I'd be putting the c on Dangrr

    Round 2 Discussion

The Tiges were very fortunate that Pendlebury is the only Collingwood player who knows how to kick. Reminds me of a couple of years ago when the Tiges still had Delidio ... if it wasn't a hospital pass you knew that Lids had kicked it.

I'd probably only do it this week if you anticipate needing 2x rookie corrections next week.

What should i do with Crameri

I reckon the best call might be to trade down to the best forward line rookie that you feel you've missed. Hannan maybe? Make sure you have as many of the rooks who will make cash at the start.

    Regrets

O'Mera is your biggest regret?! He kicked three points on the weekend ... if he converted a couple of them he probably tons up. As long as his body holds together until the byes he'll be a good pick I reckon. Just out of interest who would you have had on field if you hadn't spent the cash on JOM?

Dito. Still early days. The guy has a top SC score of 171 and he's young enough that he may have improvement left in him ... the pick may still work out. I've got to say I really did not like what I saw on a Thursday night though. Definitely doesn't help that almost everyone I might have taken...

    Suggestion for next show

I probably take this approach more for forward line players than for back but, yeah, if I'm putting a rookie forward in the field I'd like it to be a game I think their team can win and hopefully win well.

    If you have Eddy and Butler here's what I think: R1 - Butler v Carlton R2 - Eddy v Freo at AO R3 - a wash R4 - Butler v Brisbane R5 - Eddy v Carlton R6 - Eddy v Brisbane R7 - upgrade?

If your biggest regret out of all this is that you stuffed up you SC side you'll have done very well. ;) Congrats and all the best for the big day.

Yeah. I have Roughy over Nank / Steele and Taranto. I'm not to worried about Roughy - I'm still comfortable with that pick. Some unexpected results in round one. The Hawks might keep getting beat I guess but surely GWS and the Swans come good ... and that should help Taranto.

If that is your only issue then staying disciplined and waiting til after round two (Freo v Port) seems the sensible course of action.

Picking Josh Caddy my only big one. Heaps of people on here said "don't do it, pick Buddy instead" but I thought I knew better. Then I saw him play. He moves SO slowly. Oh well. Live and learn. I'll hold and hope he looks better in a more contested sort of game. Jy Simpkin my only other one...

Hmmm. That is tough. A few nice performances by breakout contenders in round one. You could go Steele or Miller now they have played and clearly got plenty of midfield minutes in the season proper.

Very slow start for GAJ but he really warmed into it. 62SC or something like that at half time and playing well. I think anyone who took the chance and started him would be feeling pretty chuffed. I didn't but I'm just glad to see him back and playing well. I saw him stick a fantastic tackle...

    2017 Ruck Cover

Yeah. This is what I ended up with. Gawn/Sandi/Witts. Witts looking good enough to have started on field so far but oh well ... cover for Sandi and the should both make good dollars.

I'm late to this party but I went to Carlton v the Tiges. Great game! Carlton didn't apply much pressure so it might not be a great lead to what the rest of the year will be like. How good was Dusty? Scary good. Did anyone find a spot for him in the midfield? Could easily be a top eight...
