I was going to go with De Gendt but he's such a hit and miss. Still though, Izagirre, Copell and Oliveira are looking good for top 10. They should definitely score points for me now.

That's absolutely my fault and I apologise unreservedly. I haven't been able to keep up at all, and have found it much much harder than I anticipated.
Hey, keffa, hard for all of us so no need to apologize.
In some ways it is harder than any football fantasy. There are some stat.s you can base your team on but knowledge of the riders and of the particular stages is all important.
Even then past history is only a rough guide. You don't know how well prepared the riders are.
Cavendish told all and sundry that he had been preparing for the Olympic criterium on the track. Hardly the ideal preparation for road sprints. I think he has surprised everyone, even himself, with how well he has gone.
Everybody knows that Quintana is best in the last week of a Grand Tour - except this year he doesn't appear to be.

@Grater
You're doing well.
I'm too tired to sit up and watch the rest so I'm going to record it and watch it tomorrow.
Cheer the boys on for me, too. All right?

Froome - 1st (100)
Dumoulin - 2nd (75)
Porte - 4th (54)
Izagirre - 7th (42)
Coppel - 11th (30)
Mollema - 17th (12)

Oliveira - 21st
Preidler - 67th
Cummings - 120th

Oliveira just out of the points hurts as I could have gone someone like De Gendt. I expected 1 Movistar in the top 5, and it didn't happen, so I wasted salary there.

388 x 2 = 776 points.

Puts me on 3359 which is 2nd before this stage. So factor in everyone else, I am probably just in the top 30? We'll see.

Had I used stage 1 as my bonus I would have been in the lead at the start of this stage. So that hurts.

@keffa as Rupert said no need for apologies i have only played this game for 2 years and i know nothing about cycling and reading what the thread can sometimes be pretty intimidating.
If it's any use for the remainder of this game and hopefully you'll jump on board again next uear, i have found that using sites like sportbet for the stage odds really helps with selection, then you get to know which riders are suited to what stages.

That's a great point about using betting markets as a guide, but I don't 'get' the strategy of when to use them. Also I didn't realise, until half way through, that you can make more than 2 trades per day (I was thinking along SC lines).

Anyway, TBH I don't think I'd enter again next season, as I have disgraced myself this time round, and being a ghost ship is not something that I enjoy. In fact, I frown upon others doing it, and here I am!

As for the analysis of you guys, it's pretty incredible. You're very very knowledgeable and it's fun reading your thoughts.

Well, pretty happy with the results last night.
As I hoped I got the top 5: Froome, Dumoulin, Porte, Aru and Bardet.
Only made one error:
Had to chose one out of Meintjes, Mollema and Yates to drop. Chose Meintjes who ended up 9th while the other 2 were 16th and 17th.
Lost 2 x 24 points on that choice.

Still, it's not too bad.
I am now ranked 15th with 3397 points. No chance of winning as I am 300+ points behind first place but still a chance for top-10 as I am only 39 points off 10th.

And our league is back up to 13th. Well done all.

Wow that's insane. Can you win it?
No. No chance. Doubt i can even finish on the podium.
My score: 3709
Top 3 teams scores: 4026, 3942, 3814
Even if the last 2 stages are good for me that is only about 450 points which would need the top teams to score almost nothing.
My main advantage last night was in having Bardet (1st) and Meintjes (4th) when most of the teams above me didn't have both.
As all the teams above me have the trades to bring in whoever they want I doubt if I can go much higher.
But I can hope.

I still have 3 trades so I am wondering whether I should move Mollema on for Quintana/Valverde or hold so I can bring in 3 sprinters. I reckon there are 3 with a good chance to win on the Champs: Kittel, Greipel and Coquard. If they finish 1-3 it is 60+50+40=150 points. Have only 2 and it might be only 90 points. Plus Sagan, Degenkolb and Christoff could also feature.
It is probably worth it to bring in Valverde/Quintana if they can finish in the top 8 tonight as even 8th gets you 39 points.

I finished 16th and our league finished 13th.
Well done everyone. Not too shabby at all and quite an improvement on last year.
Also looking forward to next year.

Anyway, there's no SBS game this year unfortunately! Couldn't find the right partnership. Roadcyclinguk has had the same game the last two years so could see if they have it this year.
