He's not flying under the radar at all but the biggest watch for me over the JLT with be McGrath I think he has a genuine chance of being a top 10 defender, I don't think he needs a big midfield role to achieve it either just needs to be freed up a bit from lock down roles, at 388K he's too expensive for a stepping stone in my opinion.

Sicily & Burton look like that could make an impact but very concerned they'll get thrown around the ground a fair bit.

B.Ainsworth, L.Weller & Crozier are longshots but worth watching close over the next couple weeks.

Really like the Sicily pick fwd/def flexibility is nice, Clarkson was quoted last week saying he's one of the best readers of the ball in the air he's seen. Massive wrap from a bloke who's groomed and coached/played against some bloody good players. Could be a goldmine if he's plays that 3rd up defensive role for the hawks and swings forward every now and then.

Goddammit Sicily. He is one of my most disldisl players in the league...but he looked good today and is playing a SC friendly role. The price is right at 402k but he's fighting Hanley for a spot in my back line.

Surprised the boys didnt mention Armitage in the m/f show when discussion mid pricers.

Has ave 109 previously and priced at 310K worth discussing at least.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I have had him at m6/7 since SC opened, surprised they didn't mention him as well at just over 300k could be a nice stepping stone or even keeper if he averages 110+ like a few years ago before injuries

Off last season it's very hard to see Marchbank as a potential premo he only had 3 scores 95+, but he could really rack it up in the 2's up in Sydney & all the talk i'm hearing is that although Carlton aren't trying to replace Doc with just one player, but they have earmarked Marchbank as the main beneficiary.

Dunkley is interesting. Scoring potential but with full midfield today playing forward and scored 75 odd. If he was $250k I'd be locking in, but at $296k it's tricky. He's there currently but not sure if he'll stay.

Scores 57 against the Blues. I've had him in and out of my side. The scoring potential is there, but it's these poor games that scare me off.

Bell is another one of those awkward priced players but Dunkley has better JS than Dunkley

I agree. I think that Dunkley is very interesting as a midfielder! Looking forward to see more of his games!

I haven't seen or heard anyone mention melksham from the dees yet. This is weird and scary to me because I think he is a huge lock for the fwd line, but since no-one has mentioned him I could be horribly wrong!

Dees are going to be better this year and have a great dynamic forward line going. melksham looks to be a key part of that.
358k price for a 65 avg in 2017. I think he can easily average 80-85 this year, and maybe even over 90.
Avg 101 across the 2 JLT games.

at worst a stepping stone to a fwd premo, best M8.

Previous career best of 77, and that was 5 years ago. I guess most just don’t see him having a break out year out of nowhere at age 27

Dees moved him fwd at the end of last year and worked alright. Spent this preseason working on that and looks a key part of their setup in 2018. Has been one of their best in all games including aflx. I’m very confident he will go at least 80avg probably closer to 90. Bargain imo

Awkward price for Melksham. Only 4 scores over 80 last year. I also look at games like round 19 and 20 where he got 2 goals and a dozen-odd possessions but score 40 and 53.

Go for it if you're keen, you may get that 90. But, even 90 won't be enough for a keeper and that's what I'd be looking for at that price point. Will only make you $100k, maybe $150k at absolute best, and there's plenty of rookies who can do that for you. Not totally against it, but not for me.

Not many decent rookies though, most of the guys who might get picked scored around 40 or so which is awkward.

What fwd rookies do you like besides fritsch?

Big no for me. As a keen watcher of Melksham's game from his time at the Dons I can tell you he is not SC relevant. For every good game you get 5 stinkers. Most inconsistent footballer in the AFL
